2010-2011 Season!!

9/21/10
Gentlemen,
It is with great enthusiasm that I welcome all of you to the start of another great season of Lafayette High Men’s soccer. Here at Lafayette High, we have made excellent soccer a tradition. By choosing to join the Lions, you are choosing to join one of the most storied programs in Louisiana. Year in and year out, the Lions are contenders for the State Championship. Our current class of Seniors competed in the State Semi-Finals as Sophomores and in the State Finals last year as Juniors.

All of our success, however, comes at a cost. In order to give our athletes the very best year in and year out, we undertake various fundraisers. This year in partnership with the Lady Lions, we are hosting an early season Skeet Shoot fundraiser on November 13th at the Wilderness Gun Club. Attached is a flyer for the Soccer Shootout. Please share it with your parents and friends.

Tryouts this year will be at 5:30pm October 25th and 26th at Moore Park field 23. Both days are mandatory. All players are required to arrive 30 minutes early to check in and must have a fully inflated size 5 soccer ball, age appropriate shin guards and suitable soccer cleats. In addition to arriving with the proper equipment, we also expect all of our players to arrive in good physical condition. The high school season is short and we will not have time to get the players in shape during our season. We fully expect all of our players to arrive on tryout day capable of running a 12 minute two mile.

Prior to tryouts, all players must complete and return a fully executed eligibility packet. If you do not receive an eligibility packet at the sign-up meeting, they will be available in Mdme. Cheramie’s classroom #513. All packets must be completed and returned before you will be allowed to tryout.

If the numbers allow, we will field a Freshmen, Junior Varsity, and Varsity team this year. Please be sure your parents know if you are selected to be part of the program this year. There will be a team meeting on Thursday October 28th which you and your parents must attend. Please stay tuned to our website www.lhsmenssoccer.blogspot.com for more information and changes in our schedule. We are currently working on a very competitive schedule and the coaches and I can’t wait to get started!

Go Lions!!!
