Tournament Time!

It's tournament time once again as the Varsity Squad takes on the St. Thomas Tournament. The team will leave school on Friday at around 11:00 AM! Players with out properly filled out and signed permission slips will not be allowed to attend! Players will travel dressed in their khaki school pants with their black jersey and warm-up top. Players are allowed to wear this to school as well on Friday. For our fans I have listed the tournament schedule, rules, and links to our hotel and Granger Stadium at St. Thomas.

Official Rules and Information

  1. All games are currently scheduled for November 16th-17th, 2007, with the first games beginning after school on Friday to accommodate travel and school rules. In case of rain, a revised schedule format may be needed with shortened games.

  1. All matches will be 80 minutes in length. Ties stand.

  1. The standings and tournament champion will be determined using a 10 point system as follows.
    1. 6 points for a win
    2. 3 points for a tie
    3. 0 points for a loss
    4. 1 point for a shutout
    5. 1 point for every goal up to 3
    6. 0-0 is scored as 3 points per team (no shutout bonuses awarded for 0-0 ties)
    7. Total max points for a win is 10
    8. Tiebreakers are as follows:
      1. Head to Head (if more than 2 teams, this tiebreaker is skipped)
      2. Goals Against
      3. Goals For
      4. Coin Flip

  1. Any player receiving a red card is ineligible to play the remainder of the tournament. Any coach or fan sent off or asked to leave, will be not allowed in the stadium area for the remainder of the tournament.

  1. Unlimited substitution is allowed in the following situations with the approval of the referee:
    1. Preceding all goal kicks.
    2. Preceding throw-ins of one’s own possession.
    3. After a score before ball is put into play again.
    4. During stoppage to assist an injured player.
    5. At any time opponent is using their opportunity to substitute.

  1. Except in the situations noted above, FIFA rules will apply in all other cases. All referee decisions are final. There will be no protests.

  1. Home team is listed first and will wear light colored jerseys unless they are unable. Teams will sit on the sideline next to the bleachers.

  1. St. Thomas will provide game balls.

  1. Admission is $4 for ADULTS; $3 for YOUTH per match, and a tournament pass will be available for $10. You must keep tournament ticket for re-entry. Concessions will be available on both days of the tournament, as well as a hospitality area for coaches and referees

  1. Trophies will be awarded for 1st and 2nd place, as well as an All-Tournament Team with the following breakdown: 1st place team – 5 (including tournament MVP), 2nd place team – 3, 3rd place team – 2, 4th place team – 1.

  1. Tournament T-shirts will be available for purchase. Cost estimated at $10.
